One of the best organic soap that you can make is olive oil soap. This kind of handmade soap has a very soft lather and mild to the skin. It is a perfect beauty soap which you can use for a very long time. You can easily find a good olive oil soap recipe and its procedures are also quite easy to follow.
Some Preliminary Steps
One peculiarity of organic olive oil soap is the difficulty of handling its mixing stages. So it would be best to know some proven methods first before you try making olive oil based soap.
First, make sure that you have the right equipment. Normally, other lye soap mixture takes around 15 – 30 minutes of continues manual mixing before tracing develops. However, natural soap with olive oil, if you mix it using manual method, would take extremely longer time to achieve mixture tracing.
So, it would be best to have a wooden hand blender to be used for mechanical mixing. Don’t forget also your regular big spoon or spatula for manual mixing. These two equipments will be critical for mixing olive oil soap.
Next, combine the use of manual and mechanical mixing. Using only your wooden blender could cause the mixture to prematurely emulsify thus wasting the whole stock. Use the blender and your big spoon alternately. After about half a minute of mechanical blending, you can shift to manual mixing for a few minutes. Repeat this process until you trace the mixture
Prepare the Molder
You must use a soap molder that can be covered and sealed tightly. That’s because olive oil based soap will heat up and melt again after molding. So to avoid seepage or spillage of the mixture make sure that it is properly sealed.
Any container, whether plastic, rubber, and metal will be fine as long as it can be properly sealed. Immediately cut the olive oil soap into bars if it’s already cold. You may find it difficult to cut the soap after curing because an olive oil bar is so very hard.
